Marinara Sauce
Marinara in Italian means marine. So a marinara sauce is a meatless sauce and is often the base for other sauces including those that are seafood based.
Here's one recipe I really like. If you don't like garlic as much as I do, feel free to reduce the number of cloves. You can also omit some of the ingredients too. It's hard to go wrong with pasta.
So enjoy and if you like it, please do let me know.
Ingredients:
6 to 8 crushed garlic cloves
2 (28-ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon brown sugar
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried sweet basil
1 teaspoon oregano
1 bay leaf
Directions:
1. Saute garlic in olive oil until lightly golden. Do not let it burn or it will make your sauce very bitter.
2. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil then reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
3. Remove bay leaf before serving.
